In the run-up to one of the largest round-the-world yacht regatta, known as the Volvo Ocean Race, Volvo Trucks has prepared two unique semi-truck series in the form of the Volvo FH and Volvo FH16. The offered special versions of Volvo FH Ocean Race tractor units are inspired by the adventurous spirit of the regatta, which is to start this autumn. The exceptional character of the event determines the production aspects of the trucks. The planned number of units is limited as well as the time period of output. Sales are set to begin in mid-March.
The special edition, devoted to the upcoming Volvo Ocean Race, features two exterior design solutions: one is a sky-blue Cool Breeze Metallic and the other is a sand-colored Shimmering Gold.
The exclusive offers of Volvo FH truck series are equipped with 13-litre engines outputting 540 hp (2600 Nm) in combination with Volvo’s latest generation I-Shift automatic transmission, enhanced by Dual Clutch and retarder. The axle configurations available for order are 4х2, 6х2 and 6х4.
As of the cab, there is a choice between Globetrotter and Globetrotter XL variants. The interior is made in such a way that every detail pays tribute to the Volvo Ocean Race. Light beige colours create the atmosphere of a cruise ship, while the available safety package guarantees the premium quality.
By purchasing a Volvo FH Ocean Race semi-truck, an owner is offered the membership in the Globetrotters Club – the travel club for enthusiasts aimed at ultimate travel experience. Also, there is an opportunity to visit any leg of the Volvo Ocean Race during the regatta course in an ancient and romantic city of Lisbon – the place, which became the starting point for brave Portuguese seafarers heading their routes to the New World five centuries ago.
