Knowing When to Take Your Car to the Local Mechanic

When was the last time that you took your car in to the local garage to be serviced and tuned up? It’s definitely something that should happen at least a few times a year but sometimes people either forget or just don’t think that it’s too important. Even worse is when a car needs to be repaired but the owner doesn’t actually know that there’s a problem.

When to Take Your Car in for a Repair

So, would you really know what signs to look for that indicate that your car needs repair, servicing, and car engine tuning in Northamptonshire? Here are some signs that you definitely should not ignore:

  • Brakes: Faulty and failing brakes are dangerous on the road so it’s good to know when they need some expert attention or even replacement. If you hear grinding, squealing, or squeaking from your brakes, book it in for a service as soon as possible. If you have to press very hard on the brakes to get them to work, get it in as soon as you can!
  • Hammering: Likewise, if you hear knocking or hammering sounds coming from your engine as you accelerate, this could be a sign of a serious problem. In some cases, the engine might even cut out altogether and leave you stranded.

Be Aware of Your Car’s Health

Even if you don’t know a lot about cars and engines, you do need to have some awareness of how it is driving and handling. If you notice any changes, it’s better to be safe than sorry.
